Fitbit Versa 3 full review – Should I buy it?

I checked the Fitbit Versa 2 last year and kept coming back to using it because of the potential for 24/7 exercise monitoring. I had to run with another smartwatch or fitness tracker to chart my running and cycling with no incorporated GPS.

Although the Fitbit Sense has optimized GPS, it’s priced at $330, and the EDA sensor is also included. You should consider the Fitbit Versa 3 if you want a more affordable watch and don’t need to collect ECG info.

I just checked out the Google Wear OS smartwatch Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 and it is a solid wearable. Google, however, tends to make little effort to improve and strengthen Wear OS, while Fitbit is working hard to give the wearables a strong and efficient experience. We will see support for Google Assistant later this year and support for calling directly on Versa 3 itself.

The watch will almost complete these tasks so that it threatens the head-to-head of Google’s Wear OS. Let’s find out the story of the tape between TicWatch Pro 3 and Fitbit Versa 3.

The first screen watches face when you lift your wrist. There are hundreds of watch faces available in the Fitbit app store and now you can load up to five watch faces on the watch to switch on the fly via the clock app without connecting to your phone.

The SpO2 Watch Face reads your SpO2 with the date in the upper left corner from the previous night’s sleep and the time below your SpO2 reading. Tap on the face to switch to the center of the watch face to show your current heart rate, actions taken and goal, active area minutes and goals, and climb to the ground and target. It is a colorful and lightweight watch face that gives you the look you need at a glance.

For control mode, sleep mode, always-on display, screen wake, brightness, and music control, swipe from left to right to show you the remaining battery percentage and six quick control icons. They are not customizable, but they are very useful and I use them every day.

Enables swipe notifications from top to bottom. Tap on Notification to see more details. Scroll to all sides to clear all notifications.

Swipe from bottom to top to see the different widgets you have selected. These widgets include Weather, Key Stats, Advanced Statistics, Comfort, Fitbit Logging (Weight and Water). Core statistics include phases, soil, active zone minutes, calorie burn, and distance. Advanced statistics include heart rate, exercise, diet, sleep, and hour activity. Tapping on any widget will open up more details about the specific status in the Watch Today app.

Swipe right-to-left in the App Launcher with the four app shortcuts that appear on each screen. Hold down your app icon, then drag them around and align them to your liking.

For Amazon Alexa functionality you need to install the Amazon Alexa app on your phone and connect to your Amazon account. There are limits to what Alexa can do in Fitbit Versa 3, but it’s easy to show the weather, set alarms, watch my upcoming events, and answer search queries. You can use it to control smart home appliances, start Fitbit exercises and do more. It may not be used for calls, flash briefings, and some other advanced Alexa activities, but I found it to be much more efficient than I thought.

I would love to see this service on Spotify customers and Fitbit Versa 3. The Spotify app lets you control Spotify playback with Sense from your phone.

Overall the squirrel design, shape, and size showcase the new Fitbit Versa 3 as a copy of the Versa 2, but turn it on and start looking around at the hardware to find many differences.

AMOLED screen resolution increased from 300×300 pixels to 336×336 pixels. Vivid colors and dark blacks look amazing with crystal clear fonts. Even in direct sunlight, it is very visible inside and out. The front is completely black with no logo or anything. Raise your wrist to see the face of the watch, press the button to toggle on the display, or always turn on-mode if you do not care much about battery life.

The on-display option was always off by default, but I tried for a few days. When this feature is enabled, battery life is a significant success and I find that the watch face turns on very quickly when I lift my wrist, so I always go to turn on-display by default

The Fitbit Versa 3 has a matte finish aluminum body and slightly more curved than the Versa 2. On the back are four pins that connect to the new magnetic charging puck, which is connected to a heart rate sensor. The magnetic puck ensures the correct orientation of the Fitbit Versa 3 and keeps it safe for charging.

The microphone on the left side of the clock is activated on the right side and below the solid-state sensor button. Unlike the physical button found in many weavers, this pressure-sensitive area works with single and double presses and performs press/hold actions for a variety of tasks. A single press wakes up the display or returns you to the watch face. Double Press gives you quick access to four of your favorite apps. These applications are selected in Settings. A press and hold allow you to open your favorite app, access music control, launch Amazon Alexa, or launch Fitbit Bite.

The microphone and speaker will be used for Amazon Alexa and will also have the potential to support Google Assistant in the future. Unfortunately, this does not work for phone calls, it’s a great thing to see on the Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch WearBrills but be prepared for future updates. When connected to an Android phone, you can use the microphone for voice-to-text responses in the message.

Fitbit has developed a new band solution in Versa 3 (also included in Fitbit Sense), which is not a bad thing as it has made some attempts to convert bands in Versa 2. View slides from the small button and band body you pressed. With this new design, the bands blend well into the watch body. This helps in monitoring against your wrist for accurate data collection.

Another service I am testing for the first time is called Health Coaching. This is a one-on-one service where you can chat with a professional health coach who will help you create a positive action plan and hold you accountable for sticking to your plan. This service includes Fitbit Premium and 7 days free trial per month. Will be priced at 54.99.

Discussions with your health trainer will take place during the chat sessions on the Fitbit app. As part of this program, your coaches will have access to your Fitbit data so that you can create a plan tailored to your goals according to your current health status. Accountability is a key factor in achieving success and I look forward to spending more time with my coach.

You can buy the Fitbit Versa 3 in Black / Black Aluminum, Midnight / Soft Gold Aluminum, and Pink Clay / Soft Gold Aluminum for $ 229.95. I tested the black/black aluminum model. You can pay $ 44.99 for a two-year accidental damage protection plan. Also, choose a free three-month premium trial.

None of your other Fitbit bands will work with the new Fitbit Versa 3, but the new Fitbit Sense will feature this new design. Band options include Knit Band, Horny Leather Band, Sport Band, and Woven Band. I also tried the charcoal weaving band, the $ 34.95 option. Sport bands are also $ 34.95, horn leather bands $ 49.95, and stylish knitted bands $ 39.95. It is a good idea to set a reasonable price for the band Fitbit Sense so that you can have an assortment for your various needs.

Fitbit’s OS continues to grow and developers continue to add new applications to the store. There are plenty of opportunities for apps and I see developers taking steps to improve them, especially since we now have two backlogs with integrated GPS receivers.

Running with the Fitbit Versa 3 and two other dedicated GPS sports watches I was very impressed with the performance and heart rate tracking of the GPS 3. 3. A dedicated heart rate chest strap measures your heart rate fluctuations well. Versa 3 works well and has the potential to impress people.

GPS results show distances within a few meters from exclusive GPS sports watches. I was honestly shocked and impressed when I put the data from Versa 3 on other GPS sports watches.

Curved design, small size and weight, excellent health data, and sophisticated smartphone apps that provide awareness on data, Fitbit Versa 3 is an excellent choice for health and fitness tracking. Major smartwatch apps are available and are being released regularly.
